Since, I born in last decade of 20th century, I can explain the evolution of technology better than anyone else, who were born in mid 90's or in 21st century.I have seen the scarcity of technology, transition of technology and availability of technology.
When in 90’s we used to send a postcard to our dear ones, when we were kept on hold on telephone by customer care executives to connect the lines. “ Kripaya Pratiksha kare , hum aapki call ko connect karne ki kosis kar rhe hai.”( Please hold on, we are trying to connect your call.) OMG! , That sweet voice of the lady on the phone.
This always reminds me the scene from the movie ‘Beta’ starring Anil kapoor. When the child tries to call to God to talk to his mother who has already passed away and the lady customer care executive asked him wait for a while and then she requested her colleague to talk to him as his mother. Because she knew, she cannot connect the phone to God, neither had she wanted to break the faith of the child in the god and most importantly in the connectivity of phone lines. (I mean technology).
So, I believe technology cannot connect us to the god but it can be a half made bridge that can shorten the gap and if not strengthen the faith in god it can at least help us to keep our faith alive.
Technology has given us a new voice and new way of communication. Before 2002 the word ‘technology’ itself was not so common in India but with its evolution so many words became common like chat, streaming, versions, backspace, emoticons, web, internet, offers, monitor and many more such words became popular over the time.
It would not be wrong if I say technology is added dimension in our life that has given us new directions and taken us to new heights.
There are so many things which had been changed in the span of 20- 25 years. From sending postcards to sensing the touch on internet. From going to market, hospital and banks to accessing all these on your smallest computer called smart phones. From sending an informer to sending emoticons and expressing your views just in seconds. From the study of atoms of elements to exploring the black hole. Everything has been made possible in last 25 years and its all 'technology' that helped to achieve every goal set by our researchers. Everything is now available at your finger tips. Even the dreams are just one click away (literally).
But on thing is still same, the passion of developing the best technology. Researches are still on and it is transforming our life at a very faster rate. The only fear is that, someday it may overwhelm the brain of humans and the way we are developing the technologies, technologies will start developing humans.
I don’t wish technology to go so far but I bless it to grow under the proper guidance of human. It can be a blessing in disguise to be a technically advanced society.
